Gunfighters & the Public

John Linn

It’s a new year and there will be a lot happening in November. This year has already started out with some disturbing news in Pioneertown.

On Jan. 14, 2020, a local resident and western reenactor was arrested on suspicion of child molestation. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department issued a press release with information that was vague stating that the suspect was heavily involved in community events including performing in Pioneertown Wild West shows. The word “shows” was an issue for Gunfighters for Hire and Manestreet Stampede. The fact was that the suspect was actually a member of the Pioneertown Wild West Theater, which does not perform on Mane Street. Their venue is located on the private property just east of Pappy & Harriets. We had a number of inquiries from the public, so we needed to clarify the issue since the deputy sheriff and the detective sergeant refused to make the clarification on the press release. Gunfighters for Hire will do a background check on every potential member. We take the safety of our guests very seriously.
